Alright then, it’s been many moons since my last post. A good deal has happened in my life, however the worst is behind me, and I am trudging forward. That being said, since we last interacted … I have still been traveling and I am still collecting miles and points like it’s my job. I went on an Alaskan Cruise with my family and also to San Francisco to visit friends.
What has me excited and prompted me to post right now is that I am booking travel for people at my “real” job. Just a perk for them that I know the ins and outs of scheduling travel, getting rebates, and possible free flights for my workmates in the future. Also, (for me!) if I schedule the hotel stays via Rocketmiles, I can get frequent flier miles for myself! (I am only doing this if they don’t collect hotel points.) I emailed Rocketmiles to ask about scheduling for others and getting miles for myself, and I got the green light. Just be careful to put in the travelee’s name when you are scheduling, then put in your own frequent flier number. I will let you know how it goes. I am doing United MileagePlus, and as we know it takes For-Ev-Er for them to post miles, so I will keep my eyes open.
I’m also getting into deals and freebies lately. Have you heard of the new app called Check? It is a bill pay app that is owned by Intuit. Right now, if you download the App to your Andriod or IOS, you will receive $10 off your first bill you pay. Thanks to slickdeals.
- Download and install the Check app for iOS or Android.
- Login or setup an account.
- Add an account once you login (Bills & Utilities, Credit Cards, Insurance, Loans, and more).
- Select a bill you would like to pay.
- On the top right of the screen, click on the present box icon and click on the Try It now button.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to pay your bill and you will see $10 off paid by Check on your invoice.
This took me a whole 5 minutes.
Oh Groupon, you know how to get us … Is anyone feeling like it’s New Year’s Resolution time? Time to shed a few pounds and learn a healthier lifestyle? As you know, I think NY resolutions are crazy, but the point of this program is to start a lifestyle change, and get us informed and motivated. (Plus, looking good on vacation is always awesome!) Well, the Biggest Loser Resort in Chicago is running (pun intended) a 40% off discount via Groupon. This offer is only valid through January 14th. You will get a 1-Week Fitness and Weight-Loss Program with Daily Meals and Snacks at Biggest Loser Resort Chicago in Chicagoland. See more details here.
A big shout out to whomever used my HotelTonight referral code and got hotel rooms on New Year’s Eve! Sounds like someone was being responsible. When you used my referral code, it gave me $25 to use on MY next stay with HotelTonight.
What is HotelTonight? Well, it’s a free app, so you download it to your device, or iTunes, or GooglePlay and each day, after 12:00 noon, there is a listing for hotels that have vacancy and discounted rates. The rub is that you have to be flexible and go where the deal is … with no pre-planning….. Although you will find that a lot of these hotels are the same, day after day … so you could plan a little. There are quite a few people using HotelTonight now, and there are reviews on most hotels that are listed for that day. They don’t use hotels that are lower quality. It is a great way to save money and stay at a nice hotel for much, much less than you would normally pay. So … Please use my invitation code MBROWN195 when you sign up and you and I will both get $25 to use on our next stay! Here’s the email I received ~
Thanks again, and have a great 2014!
If you are not a member of the Southwest Rapid Rewards program, now is a great time to sign up. You will receive 500 points just for signing up and another 500 for signing up for their email updates.
